I am not a beauty blogger… I don’t LOVE to wear make up and I rock a naked face 80% of the time. But I do care if my face looks presentable. No-one likes zits, whiteheads, blackheads or acne in general. It’s no fun, and sometimes painful. So I do my best to keep my skin in tip top shape. Now that being said, I don’t do it if I don’t see the reward. I am a results driven skin care person. If it doesn’t work, and work quick, I’m out.
My Skin Type:
I have VERY oily skin, hair, and nails. But to make things more difficult I also have sensitive skin. So the tough stuff that controls the oil, is too hard on my skin and results in dry patches. I have also been treated for eczema, though I haven’t had it in years, since puberty really.
Here, it my face today. No photoshop, no filters, just some good old natural light from out my window.
I’m breaking out today. Mostly along my chin and lower cheeks. Now, I think its from too much soda and not enough water. I’ve been busy and had midterms so I’ve been neglecting my self. This is the result in my opinion.
I am a morning shower persons. Sometimes at night instead, but usually in the morning. 99% of the time I am pressed for time and so my routine has to be quick if it’s going to work. So I wash my face in the shower to save time. I have been using these face wash products in the shower.
(left) Formula 10.0.6 is my new favorite. I found it at Ulta when shopping face masks and became addicted. So I use their Be Berry Ready, face wash or Best Face Forward face wash a lot.
For daily cleansing I switch between… depends on the mood i’m in.
- Be Berry Ready
- Smells like grape Pez, and though it does not lather up really good it does leave your face feeling refreshed and clean without being too harsh or drying.
- Best Face Forward
- Does not foam up like it says it does, but also cleans really well and leaves a clean face. (Second to the Be Berry Ready, though)
- Biore Baking Soda Acne Scrub
- Leaves the face feeling that squeaky clean feeling and a little more dry than the others but great bang for your buck and does get your face super clean.
For a facial scrub that really, and I mean really gets the dead skin I use One Smooth Operator, also by Formula 10.0.6. I use this about every 3 days for a good scrubbing. Do not get it in your mouth… It’s so gritty it was disgusting. Don’t ask how I got it in my mouth…
On days where I do wear makeup I look forward to the sweet relief of taking it off more than anything. For this process I start with a good old Walmart brand makeup remover wipe.
In all honestly this does not get all the makeup off but its a good start. It will get the appearance of make up off you but it will not clean your face. So to actually get makeup off I would shower and use face wash. But, thats rarely a reality, usually I just want it off so I can go to bed so I use Micellar Water to remove the rest of my make up. It’s like magic how it gets the Kat Von D Tattoo liner off. Also the only thing that cuts though Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation too. Another stubborn one to remove.
My secret to beautiful skin, and staying that way is Face Masks. My little sister/Roommate got me hooked and now I buy them, constantly and use them almost daily either to spot treat or full face… between the two of us we have several brands and types of face masks on hand at all times. The common 7pm question is “what mask should I do?”
For deep cleaning I like the Freeman Charcoal Probiotics (Second row 2nd in from the left) mask. That sucker will clean you up real good in just one use. However, all the clay masks really do something but the charcoal will really do something if you need it, it is kinda intense to do multiple days in a row. I never go more than 2 days in a row with it for fear of drying me out. The Freeman Tea Tree oil one (top row farthest left) also does good job.
For more of a light cleanse I use a moisturizing or balancing or stress free mask. Now I prefer a clay to a peel off just because I’m a texture person and the gel feel of the peel offs is kinda yucky to me. But they work, so I suffer though. Plus its really satisfying to peel off.
Oh, I almost forgot… I apply all masks with either my Elf Pointed Foundation brush or my Sonia Kashuk brush. Both work good and clean up easy.
Last thing I use and almost always forget to use is moisturizer. After a mask or a cleaning I like to moisturize but I forget a lot since I’m so oily usually. When I do moisturize i use… Equate Moisturizing Cream. It works good and does not leave me more oil than I was naturally. Also this container lasts a life time.
Well, that’s my beauty secrets. I got nothing now. lol. What products do you use? What are you loving? What are you hating? What brands of Face masks should I try?
